Connecting Return Helper to Claude

This guide walks you through adding the Return Helper MCP connector to Claude, so you can look up return requests, warehouse inventory, and shipment status directly in your Claude conversations.

Server URL: https://mcp-user.returnhelpercentre.com/mcp

Authentication: Your Return Helper account username and password. Each user signs in with their own credentials — no shared API key or client secret is required.

For Individual Users (Pro / Max Plans)

  1. Open Connectors settings Go to claude.ai and navigate to Settings > Connectors.

  2. Add a custom connector Click Add custom connector at the bottom of the Connectors section.

  3. Enter the connector details

    Leave the Advanced Settings (OAuth Client ID / Client Secret) blank.

  4. Connect and sign in Click Add, then Connect. A Return Helper sign-in page will open — log in with your Return Helper username and password and approve access.

  5. Enable the connector in a chat Open the tools menu (+) in a chat and make sure Return Helper is toggled on. You can then ask Claude things like:

    "Look up the status of return request RH-XXXXX." "Search warehouse inventory for [item/SKU]."

For Team / Enterprise Plans

An organization Owner must add the connector first; members then connect their own accounts.

Owner setup:

  1. Go to Organization Settings > Connectors.

  2. Click Add, then Custom. If prompted for a connector type, choose Web.

  3. Enter the connector details:

  4. Click Add.

Member setup:

  1. Go to Settings > Connectors.

  2. Find Return Helper in the list (marked with a "Custom" label).

  3. Click Connect — you'll be redirected to the Return Helper sign-in page.

  4. Log in with your own Return Helper username and password to authorize access.

Testing the Connection

Once connected, ask Claude:

"What tools are available from Return Helper?"

Claude should list tools for looking up return requests, searching warehouse inventory, checking shipment status, and related account data.

Troubleshooting

Security Note

Custom connectors let Claude access data in your Return Helper account. Only connect accounts you're authorized to use, and review what data Claude can access before enabling the connector in shared or sensitive conversations.

Connecting Return Helper to ChatGPT

This guide walks you through adding the Return Helper MCP connector to ChatGPT, so you can look up return requests, warehouse inventory, shipment status, and other Return Helper account data directly from ChatGPT.

Server URL: https://mcp-user.returnhelpercentre.com/mcp

Authentication: Your Return Helper account username and password. Each user signs in with their own Return Helper credentials — no shared API key or client secret is required.

Requirements

Return Helper connects to ChatGPT using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Custom MCP apps are supported by eligible ChatGPT plans. For organization workspaces such as ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, your workspace administrator may need to add and approve the Return Helper app before members can use it.

For ChatGPT Business Workspaces

A ChatGPT workspace Admin or Owner must add Return Helper to the workspace first.

Admin / Owner Setup

  1. Open Workspace Settings

    In ChatGPT, open your workspace settings and go to:

    Workspace settings → Apps

  2. Create a custom app

    Click Create.

    If prompted, enable Developer mode for your account.

  3. Enter the Return Helper MCP details

    Configure the app with:

  4. Connect to Return Helper

    Ask ChatGPT to scan the available tools.

    A Return Helper sign-in page will open. Sign in using your Return Helper username and password and authorize the connection.

  5. Create the app

    After ChatGPT successfully detects the available Return Helper tools, click Create.

    Return Helper will initially appear as a draft app.

  6. Test the connection

    Open a new ChatGPT conversation and select Return Helper from the Apps / Tools menu.

    You can test it with prompts such as:

    "What tools are available from Return Helper?"

    "Find my latest return requests."

    "Look up return request RH-XXXXX."

    "Search my warehouse inventory for SKU ABC-123."

  7. Publish Return Helper to the workspace

    Once testing is complete, go to:

    Workspace settings → Apps → Drafts

    Find Return Helper and click Publish.

    Once published, Return Helper becomes available to permitted members of your ChatGPT workspace.

For Workspace Members

Once your ChatGPT administrator has published Return Helper:

  1. Open Settings → Apps in ChatGPT.

  2. Find Return Helper in the available apps.

  3. Click Connect if your account is not already connected.

  4. You will be redirected to the Return Helper sign-in page.

  5. Sign in using your own Return Helper username and password and authorize access.

Each ChatGPT user should connect their own Return Helper account. Do not share Return Helper credentials between users.

Using Return Helper in ChatGPT

After connecting, start a ChatGPT conversation and select Return Helper from the Apps / Tools menu when you want ChatGPT to access current information from your Return Helper account.

You can ask questions such as:

"Show me my latest return requests."

"What is the status of return request RH-XXXXX?"

"Search warehouse inventory for SKU ABC-123."

"Check the shipment information for this return request."

"Show me the details of this return request."

ChatGPT will use the Return Helper connector to retrieve information that your Return Helper account is authorized to access.

Testing the Connection

Once connected, ask ChatGPT:

"What tools are available from Return Helper?"

ChatGPT should show the Return Helper capabilities available to your account, including tools for accessing return requests, warehouse inventory, shipment information, and related account data.

You can also ask:

"Who am I in Return Helper?"

This can help confirm that ChatGPT is connected to the correct Return Helper account.

Troubleshooting

Security Note

Return Helper uses individual user authentication. ChatGPT only receives access to Return Helper data available to the Return Helper account that you authorize.

Only connect accounts you are authorized to use, and do not share your Return Helper username or password with other users.

When using Return Helper with ChatGPT, information retrieved from your Return Helper account may be provided to ChatGPT as part of your conversation. Your organization's ChatGPT data handling and retention policies also apply.
